RBoC: WTF?!?! Edition
- Why are institutions like the MLA and the Chronicle of Higher Ed consistently publishing everything from tweets to full articles about how much it sucks to be a Humanities Ph.D. right now??? Don’t they know we’re discouraged enough as it is??? WTF?!?!
- Why is it that no matter how much I cut corners on my budget, I never have enough money to cover everything??? WTF?!?!?!
- How can it be that no matter how much I work, there’s always more to do??? WTF?!!?!
- When did it become a chore to check and answer my email? Oh, Gmail, where did the pure pleasure go? WTF?!?!?!
- What is up with the Obama Backlash in this country???? I can’t even stand to listen to the radio anymore, and I’d rather have some sort of painful surgery than ever hook up my TV ever again. WTF?!?!
- Why is FarmVille suddenly so boring to me now? I was obsessed by it just a few days ago… WTF?!?!?!
- When did it become okay for me to wuss out on fun things like instigating drama? (aka, When did I get so old and arguably responsible?) When did I cease to press the self-destruct button? WTF?!?!?!
- Why is it that I’m not more grateful for the fact that it’s taking me forever to assemble my potential-job spreadsheet? WTF?!?!?
- Why the hell did I ask my students to write drafts of their compositions when I have 8 million other things to do besides grade? WTF was I thinking?!?!?!?
- WTF?!!?!?!? WTF WTF WTF?!?!?!?
And with that, I’m off to bed, thinking of just how JACKED the universe is right now. WTF, indeed.
