Hi all– Just wanted to let you know that I’ll be on vacation for the next two weeks, but I’ll have my computer with me, so a sporadic entry or two may show up here. Time to return to my roots in the wilds of South Jersey!

This is the second week in a row in which bipolar characters have been stereotyped as unpredictable, violent creatures on “Law & Order SVU”. Not that it matters. BD Wong misdiagnoses steroid abuse for bipolar disorder, so technically I can’t complain. Still… it seems like a catch-all for SVU. Got a character that’s not quite [...]

I was about to sit down and work on my “Zeus” poem revision, when I realized that a cold start like that would not bring anything at all to the table in terms of creative language. If anything, just sitting down to work would make me fall into old patterns and old rhythms, which I [...]

I have not laughed so hard as when I read the comment on the last entry about Tony Danza: “I’ll miss you. Tony” Honestly, I nearly split my side laughing. Whoever posted that—Tony, is that really you?—is forever on my good side. Maybe, then, this is not the last we’ve seen of Tony D!!! BWAAA-HAAAA-HAAA-HAAAAAAA!!!

…which in my case seem to be the exact same thing when it comes to working on my website. Now that I’ve rearranged things a bit, bringing the blog to the front and making the old home page a link on the sidebar, I think I’ll have more freedom, more of a chance to provide [...]

I can’t believe this. I took a nap this afternoon that was tragically cut short by a very funny dream about Tony Danza. I woke up and felt constricted in my throat–I thought I was laughing (sometimes I wake myself up laughing–ask anyone that’s lived in close quarters with me), but then I realized I [...]

It’s nearing 1 a.m., I’m still awake… and I can’t remember the last time I slept past 8 a.m., which is something that I really need to do more of, while I still can. I’m exhausted and just panting for Wednesday to get here so that I can get on the plane and head for [...]

I had the poetry workshop today, and I have to say that I’m really enjoying it! We talked about our translitic poems; mine ended up going way far afield. I didn’t really hang close to the original… as I’m sure I’ve already described. The resulting poem is narrative, but I guess it was just abstract [...]

I’m starting to see a pattern in the poems that I write: they’re narratives, character studies, analyses of relationships between people. In other words, they may be better suited to prose. But then I ask myself, what is wrong with narrative poetry? I mean, look at the “Iliad”, for the love of Pete! Or “Erlkonig” [...]

This morning–I’ve been up since 7, it’s now almost 11–I had to do two things for my Poetry Workshop. I had to revise last week’s poem, and I had to write a new one. I decided to write the new one first; it was a “translitic” exercise where the original poem is written in an [...]

It’s Dad’s birthday today—61 years old—and not a day over 45! I put a picture up on the website of Dad lost in thought, which he is frequently… with only positive results. Happy Birthday, Dad. I got some awesome genes from you! I’m so glad that you’re just a bridge away. And even though I’m [...]

I wrote an entry about two months ago about why Tony Danza sucks so damn much. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one that had ugly thoughts about Mr. Danza. Tomorrow is his last show on ABC. They canned him good. It’s not Tony Danza’s fault that he got canned. I think to be given a [...]

First off, I’ve added pix of Bishop’s Ranch to my entryHomesickeness with Cows. It’s positively gorgeous, so take a look. My Homesickness continues, but I know I’ll be in NJ in a week, so I’ll live, I’m sure! I was thinking about South Jersey again, and something I said in that last entry about Homesickness. [...]

Of all the things I’ve learned during the course of being a student of literature, there is one thing that I never quite mastered… Well if I’m going to confess: how can you master something that you’ve never really tried? And thus I am a novice in things such as editing, revising and rewriting. It’s [...]

I’ve gotten over my whining. It would be an honor to write prose poetry. It will also be a challenge–I love those.
